HAIR WEAVE NITEMARES

03/01/08 | by Ethnic Embrace [mail] | Categories: Hair, Accessories, Beauty, Beauty

I have been wearing my hair naturally all of my life.(never mind my age) until recently. For my spring vacation I decided to change my overall appearance. I got my first weave yall! I allowed my friend to apply a relaxer and a few tracks to my scalp. She’s really talented and always wears a weave herself, so there was no reason to worry. Or so I thought. The following week my tracks became loose and I decided it was time to remove them. I was told that hair bond remover was all I needed and that I would walk away with the same amount of hair that I started with. I’m not sure if I was lied to or if I myself made a mistake somewhere down the line. I followed the instructions perfectly and carefully, but I still lost a lot of hair while washing. I’ve never experienced anything like it before. I freaked out! What happened? Why did I lose so much hair? I know lots of people who always wear weaves with glue and they don’t have any hair loss issues. Are weaves made for particular people? Anyway, my weave was beautiful so yes I would like to try it again; just professionally this time. I’m not mad at my girl but I want to make sure that it wasn’t something she did. Will a sewn in weave have the same effect? Can anyone give me any advice to regrow my hair?:'(

Uhh, let's see..

...your girl lied to you sista. Using glue will rip out your hair no matter how careful you are. Sewing in the tracks is much better but may also be damaging to hair that is already damaged because it pulls on the braids you sew the tracks to so be sure to make the braids nice and tight...maybe a how-to- video on puttin in tracks is needed here...

Sis. I don't know who told you to use hair glue. But any smart person know not to put glue in their hair. The same rule apply that you tell your children don't play in the glue. It's best to sew them in. Your weave will last longer and your hair would not fall out.

i feel bad 4 u . somebody should have told u that yes it is safer to sew a weave in, but if u r going to use glue then u should always use a stocking cap under ur tracks.wrap ur hair around ur head, flatten the hair by using wrapping tissue (available at any beauty shop), then put a stocking cap on top. this will give the glue something else to stick to and the tissue paper prevents the glue from touching ur hair.
