My best friend is considerably overweight and desperately wants to lose the extra pounds. The problem is that she does nothing to control her weight gain and is now suffering from depression. I try to help her by giving her tips like, saying no to food, and even visiting the gym. I’ve never had weight problems so I can’t relate, but I know it’s tearing her apart and I want to be there for her. I’m almost at my wit’s end though. Every time I see her stuff her face with cakes and other sweets it makes me cringe. She wants to lose weight, yet she eats everything she comes in contact with and refuses to exercise. Without hurting her feelings, how can I tell her why she can’t lose weight? Or, that I’ll help only if she is serious. I want her to want more from herself. I’m tired of listening to her complain and then watching her devour everything in sight. What can I do?
