How Much Should You Be Making?

07/27/08 | by Ethnic Embrace [mail] | Categories: Finance, Education

Ok, so you finally graduated or you are almost there! So…what are you going to do now? What do you want to do? Well we’ve been getting a lot of response from people who not only need help finding a job but also need help deciding what they want to do. Sometimes even if you have expertise in a particular field you may not want to come straight out of college working a 9-5 in that field. So what do you do? How do you know you’re even qualified to do something else? Well, get prepared and don’t give up hope just yet. We’ve gathered some resources that may be able to help you out! First, if you know what it is you want to do and perhaps you have already received an offer, you can estimate how much you should be making and make sure the responsibilities and title you will have match what it is you want to do.

1. Visit BLS.gov to find out what your responsibilities will be and get some stats on how much you should be making.

2. Then, use our widget to help estimate how much you should be getting after taxes. Why would you do that? That's because you want to create a budget ofcourse! If you really want the job you need to also research the cost of living in the area and make sure you can afford that along with all of your other expenses.

We also recommend using Paycheck Calculator because we had a few people test them out, who are already full time employed, and the numbers were very reliable! They provide a more accurate result but our widget will also give a quick result if you don’t have so much information.

Well good luck honey and let us know how it all worked! And don't forget to get your Equifax Credit Report now!
Some jobs use your credit score as part of a background check!
