February 2012. Black History month. Our country is already at a divide and so what can we learn from history? Black history? Plenty. For one we can learn the truth about what made America so great. So wealthy. So strong. We can try to understand what the "Civil War" was actually about. We can keep in mind the struggles this country has overcome to become one of the most freest of countries this world has ever known. We can also be honest about our political parties and their overall mission and goals for "We the People" and their personal agendas.
Tomorrow I will be attending CPAC. It is THE conservative event of the year. Before watching "Runaway Slave", with C.L. Bryant, I had some reserved ideas about the schedule of events, the message and some of the speakers. I mean take a look at some of the titles. After watching his sneak peak documentary much of what I did not understand suddenly became more clear and it made sense. Take a look.
C.L. Bryant will be present tomorrow and I hope to chat with him about what he feels that blacks should do to take a step in the right direction. I personally am disgusted with the criminal system, welfare and how our government deals with our ever-growing addiction to drugs both illegal and especially legal. I also feel like our government already has too much control and they just passed a mandate allowing the DoD to take civilians into military custody and detain them indefinitely with no charges or trial which has me uncomfortably and thinking about the correlation between this swift act, our troops returning home and the social uproars (such as Occupy Movement) that have been in state...but let me stay on topic.
Inevitably, I believe everyone will have to take some sort of stand #whenthedustsettles. I hope we can all take it upon ourselves to get acquainted or reacquainted with what that matters.
